As the world accelerates toward a green and sustainable future, engineering, science, and technology are playing a critical role in addressing climate change, resource scarcity, environmental challenges, and the transition toward a circular and low-carbon economy.
However, the green transition is not only a technological transformation — it is also a transformation of people, opportunities, and leadership. Women are increasingly contributing to engineering, science, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. Yet, many women continue to face barriers to accessing STEM education, career opportunities, professional networks, financial resources, leadership positions, and decision-making processes.
The workshop “Women in Engineering for Sustainable Development – Opportunities and Challenges for Women in the Era of Green Transition” aims to create an inclusive platform connecting students, academics, engineers, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, development organizations, and sustainability practitioners to explore the evolving role of women in engineering and the green economy.
How women are shaping engineering, science and technology - and the barriers that still hold them back.
Emerging roles in green technology, renewable energy, circular economy, ESG and sustainable manufacturing.
Real journeys from women engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs and changemakers in sustainability.
Panel discussion, open Q&A and networking with experts, companies, development organizations and mentors.
